Streaming LDS General Conference in 1080p

Mormon Channel Roku Channel

This weekend I’ll be joining millions of Mormons all over the world as we watch and listen to the messages given at our semi-annual General Conference.

Unlike most of my LDS brothers and sisters, however, I won’t be tuning in via satellite or cable TV. I’ll be streaming it live in glorious 1080p on my Roku via the freshly out-of-beta Mormon Channel.

It’s been nearly a year since we cut out cable to go streaming only and it just keeps getting better.

The Mormon Channel is a free download via the Roku Channel Store and is also available for free on Android, Apple, BlackBerry, and Palm devices.

If you’ve been waiting until now to find out more about Mormons (we’re all over Broadway and GOP politics this year) I invite you to come and see what we’re about.

How will you be experiencing General Conference this year? Sound off in the comments below.

Did the Roku work for you? It’s not streaming live for us. It’s a shame, I was really looking forward to watching it through the Roku box instead of hauling my computer upstairs.

The Mormon Channel was a bit flaky this morning, but the BYU TV Channel–also available on the Roku Channel Store–worked for us.

I’ve spoken to one of the devs of the Mormon Channel and he said there was an issue with the streaming media sever this morning which has since been resolved.

I anticipate being able to use it to view conference this afternoon and tomorrow as well.

We haven’t cut the figurative cable to our satellite just yet. We live in rural Idaho. We have broadband internet, but it is not as reliable as we’d like it to be…yet.

I do, however, love the church’s website and mobile apps for streaming conferences, talks, and other content. I admit that I haven’t read the ensign for a couple months, but I have listened to almost all of the articles while shaving or working at my desk đŸ™‚ By the way, the October Ensign is amazing!!

    You da man Ammon!
